A young Rochester Century team has its first winning streak of the season thanks to its first shutout of the season.
Sophomore goalie Cole Walter stopped every shot he faced as the Panthers defeated visiting Austin High 2-0 in a Big Nine Conference boys hockey game on Saturday afternoon at the Rochester Recreation Center.
The victory is the second consecutive for Century (1-3-0 Big Nine, 3-4-0 overall), coming on the heels of a four-game losing streak.
Nick Aney and Michael Hickey scored once each for Century, while Ben Haas and Palmer Mickelson had one assist apiece.
Walter made 18 saves, including eight in the third period, to earn his first shutout of the season.

The Panthers look to extend their winning streak to three games when the play at winless Winona on Thursday. Century rounds out its pre-Christmas schedule with home games against Chanhassen on Dec. 19 and cross-town rival Rochester John Marshall on Dec. 22.
Noah Bawek made 14 saves for Austin. The Packers (0-4-0, 0-5-1) played another close game against a conference opponent. Austin has five losses this season, four of which have come by two goals or less. It plays at Mankato East on Tuesday.

Lourdes game postponed
Rochester Lourdes' scheduled boys hockey game against the Academy of Holy Angels on Saturday has been postponed until 7 p.m. Feb. 2. The game was pushed back due to an illness that depleted Lourdes' roster and could force the postponement of its game scheduled at Northfield on Tuesday.
The game against Holy Angels on Feb. 2 will be played at Graham Arena.
