ROSE CREEK — The visiting Chatfield Gophers swept a Monday softball doubleheader from the Southland Rebels at the Rose Creek City Park.
In the first game, the Gophers scored seven runs in the first inning and rolled to a 16-3 win. The second game was closer, but the result was the same with Chatfield posting an 8-6 win to complete the sweep of the Three Rivers Conference doubleheader.
Haley Kiefer started on the mound for the Rebels in the first game and took the loss, but she did get three hits. Kelli Smith pitched all seven innings for the Rebels and took the loss in the late game. Smith had two hits in each game.
Southland (7-9 overall, 6-7 TRC) plays Wabasha-Kellogg at home on Thursday in the regular season finale.
