Cold-shooting Yellowjackets fall to Minnesota West

WORTHINGTON — Rochester Community and Technical College suffered through a poor shooting game in a 74-64 setback to Minnesota West on Saturday in junior college men's basketball.

The Yellowjackets shot just 28 percent from the floor (19-for-67) and were 7-for-21 from three-point range. RCTC did make 19 of 24 free throws and had 33 rebounds, but also had 20 turnovers.

"The story of the game was it was a very poor performance in all facets for us," RCTC coach Brian LaPlante said.

Minnesota West shot 38 percent from the floor (19-for-50) and was a whopping 36-for-45 at the line.

Demetrius Williams led a balanced RCTC attack with 16 points. Shiron Williams had 15 points, Logan Drager chipped in with 14 points, and David Fritsch of Stewartville added 10.

The loss drops RCTC to 15-4 overall and 4-2 in the Southern Division of the MCAC. The Yellowjackets will host Minneapolis on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
