College Golf: RCTC women competing at nationals

MESA, Ariz. — Rochester Community and Technical College has two women golfers competing in the NJCAA National Tournament.

Sophomore Cassidy Miller of Mankato and freshman Jessie Tammel of Preston are representing the Yellowjackets at the tournament in Mesa, Ariz., on the Longbow Golf Club, a par-72 course than measures 6,200 yards.

Miller fired a 95 on Wednesday and now has a three-day total of 281, which puts her in a tie for 71st place. Tammel shot an even 100 and now has a three-day total of 313, which places her 103rd overall.

The temperature at the event was 103 degrees on Wednesday. During the first round on Monday, four golfers had to retire because of heat-related injuries.

The event, which features 115 golfers, wraps up today.
