Jack Malinski had a handful of Division I suitors. In the end, the Lakeville native and Austin Bruins captain chose the school that had pursued him for two years.
Gavin Morrissey has flourished in his second season with the Austin Bruins, having recorded 17 points through the first 22 games of this year. College coaches took notice and on Thursday, Morrissey committed to Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Six University of Michigan players were sidelined due to an illness for Thursday's game against the University of Minnesota in Ann Arbor, Mich. In order to fill their lineup, the Wolverines had former Austin Bruins goalie Tyler Shea — the Wolverines' third-string goalie — dress as a forward.

Now in his fifth season as the University of Minnesota men's hockey head coach, Motzko has restored the Gophers to national prominence, with a Frozen Four appearance last season and a highly regarded recruiting class on campus this fall.
Lake City native and current University of Minnesota hockey star Taylor Heise has been named the Preseason Player of the Year in the WCHA for the 2022-23 season. Heise helped the U.S. win the silver medal earlier this month at the IIHF Women's World Championships in Denmark.

When Mike Aikens accepted the assistant coaching job with the Rochester Grizzlies four years ago, he looked at it as the first step toward building back to a Division I coaching job. That dream was realized this week when Aikens, a 1988 Rochester John Marshall graduate, accepted an assistant coach position at Division I St. Lawrence University.
Brooke Leone has immersed herself in hockey for almost as long as she can remember. Whether it's playing, coaching or officiating, the 2018 Rochester Mayo grad has given back to the sport nearly as much as she's put into it. She was recognized by College Hockey Inc. for that passion and commitment.

Maggie Hanzel is one of the best -- if not the best -- defensemen to have come through Rochester's girls hockey program. The 2021 Lourdes graduate will be a sophomore at Boston University this fall, when she said she hopes to take a bigger role as a team leader and a two-way standout on the ice.
