Rochester Community and Technical College notched an impressive win against visiting St. Cloud Tech in the first game of a softball doubleheader Friday.
RCTC scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on a two-out double by Shelby Davis and beat St. Cloud Tech 4-3 in the first game under the inflated roof at Rochester Regional Sports Stadium.
RCTC head coach Cindy Raymond called it "a big win for us."
St. Cloud Tech, which played at nationals last year and is ranked No. 6, out-hit the Yellowjackets 14-8. Ashley Bunting was 2-for-4 with two runs for RCTC, and freshman Laura Chalmers pitched a complete game for the win.
St. Cloud Tech came back to win the second game 5-1, rallying for all five runs in the seventh. Stephanie Russell went 2-for-4 for Rochester, and starting pitcher Megan Scheid surrendered five hits in 5 1/3 innings but got no decision.
