Gophers report: Minnesota among most improved FG-shooting teams

Minnesota shot 28-for-55 from the field (50.9%) in a loss to Iowa. The Gophers had won 26 straight games when shooting better than 50% from the field since a loss at Penn State on Jan. 5, 2016

● Eylijah Stephens scored a season-high 22 points against Iowa, leading the Gophers in scoring for the first time. Stephens is the 12th player to lead Minnesota in scoring in a game over the last two seasons.

● Jamison Battle has 270 points in his 15 career games for the Gophers. The last Minnesota player to score that many points in his first 15 games for the school was Kris Humphries in 2003-04 (338 points).

● Rutgers is coming off a 48-46 win over Iowa on Wednesday. It was the second time this season Rutgers has won while scoring fewer than 50 points. They are the only Division I team with multiple such wins this season.

● Ron Harper Jr. is one of two major conference players this season to average 2.0+ made
3-pointers, 3.0+ made free throws and 6.0+ rebounds per game. The other is DePaul’s Javon Freeman-Liberty.
