Summer youth day camps are taking registrations

A group of local high school track coaches are putting together a youth track and field camp this summer for local kids. Each of the three camps is limited to 100 campers, and spots are filling up fast.
Sessions will be held June 15-18; July 13-16 and Aug. 3-6, all at Century High School from 8-11 a.m. each day. Cost is $85.
The coaches plus returning college athletes, current high school athletes and many community coaches will provide instruction in distance, hurdles and sprint running; throwing; and jumping.

Med City Aquatics competes at Hastings
Med City Aquatics results from the recent Hastings meet.
• Asa Bratlien beat up on his 50 Backstroke by an impressive 4 and a half seconds.

• Joseph Clark crushed both days with 5 new cuts, including a C, two B's, and another two BB's.
• Madie DeJong cut a big 2 seconds in her favorite 50 Backstroke and had best ever early season swims in her 50 Free and 50 Fly.
• Michaela Dervin sliced a little time off her best 50 Butterfly in a sharp looking race.
• Kamden Ernste smashed his 50 Free by over 3 seconds for his newest C cut.
• Karsten Ernste wasn't to be outdone by his brother, so he dropped nearly 3 seconds himself in his own 50 Free for a BB time.
• Kaybree Ernste survived her first ever 200 IM in style, picking up a C time in the process to top off her great weekend of swims.
• Jeremiah Holabird cut time in two thirds of his swims, and those he didn't cut in he missed by less than a second. Pretty impressive right after Short Course championship season.
• Katie Kasperski cut 5 seconds off her best 100 Breast, then went out and did it again in her 50 Fly. Wow!

• Marcus Nguyen blew up his first meet with fast feet and fists of fury! He even picked up his first ever C time in his 50 Free.
• Octavio Querol hammered down 6 and a half seconds in his 100 Free for a new BB cut.
• Grant Reeves went undefeated over the weekend, winning all six of his races while picking up 6 early season bests in each one of them.
• Emma Selig obliterated her best 100 Backstroke by a whopping 19 seconds for her newest B time.
• Hannah Selig chased down her best time in the 50 Fly to stay a step ahead of her sister, knocking off a second in a half for a good looking B time.
• Ariana Thorpe came up for day two and left with four new C times, one in each event! The weekend was highlighted by a 12 second drop in the 50 Fly and 18 in her 100 Free!
• Sophia Tomlinson grabbed three new C times in her 50 Free, 50 Back, and 100 IM where she dropped 3, 2, and 6 seconds, respectively.
• Alex Verburg dropped time in a couple swims, including a half second in his fastest ever 50 Fly.

• Morgan Verburg grabbed her newest B time in the 100 Breaststroke by slicing off nearly 2 seconds of old time.
• Manasa Yerriboyina may have stole the show with 3 B times and an additional C time. That's all well and good, but in 3 of those 4 races she dropped 21, 26, and 32 seconds, all in 100's. Wow!
• Abigail Ziemann shrugged off 9 seconds in her 50 Freestyle, and then went into some heavy lifting as she unloaded a big 20 seconds off her best 100 IM.
