S.E. Minnesota team wins 2 tournaments
The Southeast Minnesota Piranhas eighth-grade AAU basketball team from Rochester played in the Minnesota Magic tournament in Bloomington over the weekend and won the championship with a dominant performance.
The Piranhas won the first game 71-35 over E1T1 AAU team. They followed that with another decisive victory over the MN Magic AAU team 76-34. On Sunday, the Piranhas played a tough Minnesota Heat AAU team and won 55-30. They followed that win with a 60-46 victory over the Southwest Slam.
The tournament director said that in the 20-plus years he has been doing this, it was the most dominating performance he has seen.

Two weeks ago, the Piranhas played in the Minnehaha Academy tournament in Minneapolis and were champions after beating Minnesota Ice 56-17, Minnesota Heat 65-36 and Minnesota Thunder 48-27 in the championship game. The Piranhas are now 7-0 in the 2013 A-level tournaments. The Piranhas are coached by Tom Heepke and James Finstuen. (See accompanying picture.)

Juvenile Synchro team completes strong season
The Rochester Figure Skating Club's Open Juvenile Synchronized Skating Team just finished their 2012-2013 season with a bang at the "Greatest Hits" RFSC Ice show recently held at the Rochester Recreation Center. They also competed at the following competitions throughout the season:
Maplewood (Minneapolis, MN) 1st round, 3rd place; 2nd round, 6th place
Synchro Illinois (Orland Park, Ill.), 6th place
Hiawathaland (Rochester) exhibition
Swan City (Beaver Dam, Wis.) 1st round, 3rd place; 2nd round, 5th place
