MINNETONKA — Jackson Douglas took a no-hitter into the last inning and the Rochester Redhawks shut out Plymouth, Ind., 5-0 in their first game of the Gopher Classic American Legion baseball tournament Friday.
Plymouth's leadoff batter in the seventh inning doubled and that was the only hit Douglas would yield. He struck out eight and walked six.
The Redhawks scored one run in the second and Douglas held them to that 1-0 lead until they scored four runs in the top of the seventh, with Thomas Krause's two-run triple the big blow.
Rochester got nine hits off Plymouth starter Clayton Adamson, who went the distance and allowed one walk and four earned runs while striking out three.
The Redhawks were to play Tri-City St. Anthony at 9 a.m. Saturday morning in their next tournament game.
