Eagles, Adams to meet in semis

STEWARTVILLE — Lourdes dominated Caledonia, winning 10-0 Thursday night in the first round of the Division II First District American Legion baseball tournament.

STEWARTVILLE — The Rochester Eagles dominated Caledonia, winning 10-0 Thursday night in the first round of the Division II First District American Legion baseball tournament.

The win set up a game at 11 a.m. Saturday with Adams, with the winner advancing to the 1 p.m. championship game Sunday. Adams beat La Crescent 6-5 in the other quarterfinal Thursday.

La Crescent plays Caledonia at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, with the winner playing the Adams/Eagles loser at 4 p.m. Saturday. The winner of that game will play in Sunday's championship.

The Eagels beat Caledonia in five innings. Adam Ellingson went the distance, giving up just one hit while striking out a whopping 15, with no walks.

Rochester totaled eight hits.

Adams 6, La Crescent 5

It took Adams eight innings to knock off La Crescent. Taylor Schwartz was the winning pitcher. He tossed the final four innings and allowed one run on three hits.

Adams had eight hits, with Paxton Gray getting two of them, including a double and two RBIs. La Crescent had 11 hits. Zack Melbostad was 4-for-5 with a triple and three stolen bases. Austin DeBoer was 3-for-3 and Jevin Dorschner 2-for-4.
