BLOOMING PRAIRIE — Blooming Prairie capped a second straight unbeaten regular season with a 35-20 win over New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva on Wednesday night.
Blossoms 6-foot-6 senior quarterback John Rumpza played large again, completing 21-of-33 passes for 343 yards and four touchdowns.
Rumpza now has 102 career touchdown passes, matching the number held by his Blooming Prairie predecessor Luc Zellmer from 2009-'11.
Zellmer held the state record until Nicollet senior quarterback Dalton Elliott eclipsed it Wednesday night. Elliott had two touchdown passes Wednesday night in a 34-16 win over Madelia and now has 104.
Senior receiver Tristen Haberman was busy with nine catches for 205 yards and three TD catches, of 24, 11 and 36 yards. Cole Sunde caught six passes for 63. Rumpza also led the Blossoms in rushing with 57 yards.

New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva had 303 total yards with 261 on the ground. Junior back Trey Hoppe was the workhorse with 29 carries for 152 yards.
