BLOOMING PRAIRIE — Top seed Blooming Prairie led from start to finish and staved off No. 3 seed Goodhue 41-28 in a Section One, Class A semifinal football game Saturday night.
Blooming Prairie ran its record to 10-0 with another strong offensive performance, with 476 total yards almost evenly divided between rushing and passing.
Blossoms senior quarterback John Rumpza had another solid night completing 23-of-38 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns covering 2, 17 and 6 yards. He now has 108 career touchdown passes.
Cole Sunde had nine catches for 70 yards, and the Jake Decker, Anthony Nelson and Tristan Haberman caught touchdown passes from Rumpza. Decker had a big game rushing with 18 carries for 127 yards and three touchdown runs of 1, 12 and 2 yards.
For Goodhue (7-3), junior quarterback Jacob Pasch was 7-of-16 passing for 133 yards and touchdown. Tyler Schumacher caught five passes for 123 yards, he rushed in two short touchdowns, and he also threw a 75-yard scoring pass to Calvin Peterson. Garett Huemann had 13 carries for 83 yards.
