BLOOMING PRAIRIE — Junior quarterback John Rumpza threw for four touchdowns and perfect completion percentage as top seed Blooming Prairie soared to a 42-6 win over Blooming Prairie in a Section 1A football playoff game Tuesday.
Rumpza complete 14-of-14 passes for 230 yards, and he connected on scoring strikes of 52, 60, 21 and 10 yards. Cole Sunde had three catches for 83 yards and a score.
Rumpza, a 6-foot-6 right-hander, has now passed for 26 touchdowns and 2,336 yards this season. Last year he passed for 2,945 yards and 38 touchdowns.
Kingsland had 141 yards in total offense. The No. 8 seed Knights finished 0-9.
Blooming Prairie (9-0) is home Saturday against No. 3 seed Faribault Bethlehem Academy (6-3).
