Football: Kenyon-Wanamingo throws for five TDs

KENYON — Kenyon-Wanamingo won its fifth straight game, hammering United South Central 47-15 in Mid Southeast District, West Subdistrict football Friday night.

The Knights scored five touchdowns through the air, but yardage-wise had a nicely balanced offense, with 190 yards rushing (111 by Calvin Steberg) and 166 yards passing (Jack Beulke was 10-for-14 for 111 yards and four touchdowns).

Steberg ran for a touchdown and threw a 55-yard pass for another. Bradley Kish also ran for a TD.

Gavin Roosen had six catches for 129 yards and three touchdowns. Matthew Houglum made two catches, both for touchdowns.

USC rushed for 80 yards and passed for 70.

Peterson, Romeo lead Blooming Prairie

BLOOMING PRAIRIE — Blooming Prairie totaled 550 yards of offense and the Blossoms blew past Medford 53-29.

Sophomore quarterback Seth Peterson completed 12 of 22 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran 26 yards for a touchdown.

Max Romeo was everywhere for the Blossoms offense, with 132 yards rushing and a touchdown, and 115 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Blooming Prairie moved to 5-0 in the subdistrict and 5-1 overall. Medford is 1-4, 1-5.

Medford quarterback Javis VonRuden threw for 398 yards, but Blooming Prairie picked him off three times.
