Lewiston-Altura 41, Hayfield 14
LEWISTON — After a slow start, Lewiston-Altura's ground game took control in the second half and the No. 2-seeded Cardinals rolled to a 41-14 win over No. 7 Hayfield in the Section One, Class AA quarterfinals Tuesday.
"They came out in the first half and did some nice things," Lewiston-Altura coach Brent Olson said. "We had to make some adjustments at halftime, and we had some longer drives in the second half. We were able to shut them down a little better defensively in the second half, too."
L-A finished with 54 carries for 366 yards on the ground, including a whopping five touchdowns.
Hunter Moe paced the L-A ground game with 14 carries for 135 pounds. Sheldon Knutson had 10 carries for 87 yards and a score, and Jordan Theede added 12 carries for 64 yards and two touchdowns.

Nate Reps didn't need to throw often for the Cardinals, but his lone completion was a 24-yard touchdown to Jay Sommers.
Hayfield finished with 36 carries for 121 yards on the ground. Cole Kruger led Hayfield on the ground with 10 carries for 42 yards. Carter Pesch had a rushing score for the Vikings.
Brady Kramer threw for 106 yards and another touchdown. He also had three interceptions.
Hayfield finished its season 1-8 overall.
Lewiston-Altura improved to 9-0. The Cardinals host No. 3 Chatfield at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Section 1AA semifinals.
"They're good," Olson said of Chatfield. "It's going to be a real battle to try to defeat them. Their defense is good, and they're just solid all over."
