Century notes:The Panthers another close last-second loss this past Friday. It marked the second time this season when they just missed scoring in the closing seconds and suffered a seven-point setback. Century will have to contend with Owatonna's strong ground game. The Panthers have been very good on defense, and have allowed less than 200 yards total in the last two games, including just five yards on the ground last game. Century's defense is allowing just 188.3 yards a game, 144.9 rushing and a mere 43.4 passing. The Panthers, 2-1 at home, average 15.7 points a game and allow 18.6. Miguel Benjamin is up to 584 yards rushing for the season while Caden Flodstrom has 831 yards passing. Century is currently the No. 6-seeded team in six-team Section 1AAAAA, but could move past Austin with a strong showing this week.
Up next:Century will play on the round in the first round of the Section One, Class AAAAA playoffs on Oct. 25.
