CALEDONIA -- Make it 69 straight games without a loss.

That is where the Caledonia football team is after earning a hard-fought 26-8 win over Plainview-Elgin-Millville in the opener for both teams.

But it sure wasn’t easy for the Warriors. The contest was tied at 8-all into the third quarter after the Bulldogs’ Connor Schumacher barreled in for a touchdown from the 4-yard line. Johnny Evers then scored on a 2-point conversion catch.

The rest of the contest belong to Caledonia, however, a team that has won 11 state titles in 14 years. Eli King had a lot to do with the final three touchdowns scored by the Warriors. He returned a kick 82 yards for a touchdown, scored on a 14-yard run and then tossed a 41-yard TD pass to Chris Pieper.
