Giants have final home game today

The Rochester Giants are scheduled to take on the St. Paul Pioneers in their final home game of the season today at 5 p.m. at Rochester Regional Sports Stadium.

The Giants (2-3), whose offense came alive last week against Central Wisconsin Spartans, will need another good showing as they battle a Pioneers squad regarded as one of the most talented in their league. The Pioneers (3-2), who won the 2009 NAFL National Championship, started the season by blowing out their first three opponents before losing each of their past two games by a field goal.

Rochester is looking to looking to close out the home portion of the schedule with an important victory as it fights for a playoff spot. The Giants are looking for another good game from quarterbacks Nick Ferraro and Stephen Jackson, who combined to pass for 252 yards and four touchdowns last week.

Both teams have displayed their ability to put points on the board and play shut-down defense. Despite playing in different leagues in the past, Pioneers and Giants have faced off multiple times, with St. Paul winning last year’s matchup.

The Giants will be honoring youth athletes before the game.
