Rochester Century built a double-digit lead by halftime and held it this time around in a 50-40 win over Albert Lea in a Big Nine Conference game Tuesday night at Century.
Century held Albert Lea to just 14 points in the first half and held on to snap a two-game losing skid. Century is 9-6 overall and 6-2 in the Big Nine. Albert Lea is 2-13, 1-7 in the conference.
"I thought we played a great first half of defense and then we relaxed," said Century head coach Chris Stenzel.
"We have had numerous double digit leads the past month and then we let teams back into the games. At this point in the season, we can not use our youth and inexperience as an excuse."
Freshman guard Kanani Asuncion led the Panthers with a double-double, scoring 19 points and snaring 10 rebounds. Bryn Woodside led Albert Lea with 21 points.
