Girls basketball: Lyle/Pacelli wins seventh straight

LYLE — Stronger post play in the second half allowed the Lyle/Austin Pacelli girls basketball team to break open a close game Monday night against the Rochester Home Schoolers.

This was only a one-point game at halftime as the visiting Rochester Home School Defenders put up a good fight against the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics. More overall offensive balance in the second half allowed the L/P girls to pull away for the 52-40 win.

"They had some big girls on the inside and their post game gave us trouble in the first half," L/P coach Brad Walter said. "The girls hustled more in the second half and we wore them down with our defensive pressure."

Anny Rysavy once again led the way in scoring for the Athletics with a game-high 18 points. Rysavy hit a trio of three-pointers in the first half to help the Athletics maintain their slim lead.

Courtney Walter added 14 points with a pair of treys on the night. Sarah Holtz had seven points and Madison Truckenmiller chipped in six points as the L/P post players took control of the paint in the second half.

"We knew it would be a tough game and the girls worked hard to get their seventh straight win," Walter said. "The girls didn't panic when it was close at halftime and did a good job of building on the lead in the second half."

Lyle/Pacelli (8-3 overall) returns to Southeast Conference play on Friday night with a road game against Hope Lutheran in Winona.
