Girls basketball | Mayo 70, Faribault 24

Mayo played strong defense and controlled the game on the inside to roll past Faribault 70-24 in Big Nine Conference girls basketball on Tuesday.

It was Senior Night at Mayo and the Spartans rolled to a 38-10 lead at the half.

"I was proud that the girls took charge in the beginning of the game," Mayo coach Angie Meister said.

The Spartans had 16 steals as a team.

"We set the pace and Faribault struggled with our press," Meister said. "We were able to convert on a number of steals, resulting a high shooting percentage."


Offensively, Mayo's three inside players of  Rachael Doll (22 points, nine rebounds), Lauren Ulsh (14 points, eight rebounds) and Anna Lundquist (10 points, nine rebounds) combined for 46 points and 26 rebounds.
