ALBERT LEA — Jamie Ruden scored 31 points and powered Rochester John Marshall to a narrow 63-62 road win over Albert Lea in a Big Nine Conference girls basketball game Thursday.
JM built a six-point lead by halftime and then held on for its second straight win, after an 0-3 start this season. The Rockets are 2-1 in the conference.
"It's never easy to win on the road and Albert Lea shot extremely well tonight," JM coach Phil Schroeder said. "We have to get better defensively. It was a hard fought game and we found a way to win and that's what counts."
Nicole Fautsch also had a big game for JM with 19 points, and she and Ruden were both in double figures rebounding as well.
For Albert Lea, Bry Woodside scored 18 and Sydney Rehnelt 17.
