Girls basketball | Turnovers doom Century in close loss to Farmington

Rochester Century hurt itself with turnovers and lost a close girls basketball game 49-45 to Farmington on Thursday night at the Century gym.

Farmington erased a six-point halftime deficit and outscored the Panthers 34-24. Century had a two-game win streak snapped and is now 2-2 overall.

"The story of the game was turnovers as we had 24," Century coach Chris Stenzel pointed out.

Kanani Asuncion scored 15 to lead three Century players in double figures scoring, and Kendal Kupfer had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

For Farmington, Abby Gallus scored 16 and Sofia Chadwick scored nine, well below her average of 20.

"Defensively, I thought Kristin Fleissner was outstanding, holding Chadwick to 9 points," Stenzel added. "Offensively, we showed improvement and have somethings to build upon. "

Century is home Saturday night against Minneapolis Washburn (2-2).
