Girls hockey | Dodge County edges Achiever Academy in OT

KASSON -- Gabby Suhr made 18 saves and Darby Dobbs scored the only goal in overtime as Dodge County escaped with a 1-0 win over Achiever Academy in a girls hockey game matching ranked teams on Saturday.

Dodge County, ranked No. 11 in Class AA, came away with its ninth straight win and improved to 19-5-0 overall. Achiever Academy, ranked No. 4 in Class A, had a nine-game win streak snapped and is 18-4-1. Achiever Academy is in Vadnais Heights.

"Achiever is a great team as they just beat Lakeville North last week and they are very fast, physical and skilled," said Dodge County coach Jeremy Gunderson.

"This was a great game with a playoff atmosphere and I'm glad to see that we now have been on the winning side of the one goal games."

Dodge County played its first overtime game and improved to 3-4 in one-goal games.

"Gabby Suhr made some huge saves to earn the shutout, Darby got the game winner on a great play and shot, and our girls played their hearts out tonight," Gunderson added. "I am very proud of the girls and their progress as they are peeking at the right time."
