Girls hockey: Hyke, Saltness lead Rockets to shutout win

OWATONNA — The Rochester John Marshall/Lourdes girls hockey team remained unbeaten in Big Nine Conference play with a 2-0 victory over Owatonna on Thursday night.

Renee Saltness scored both JML goals, one in the first period and another in the second.

Sophia Hyke earned the start in net for the Rockets. Hyke was stellar, turning away 22 shots to preserve the shutout.

Sarah Montrose assisted on both JML goals.

"Owatonna is a tough team and our girls played great hockey for 51 minutes," JM/Lourdes coach Bob Montrose said. "Sophia Hyke was our backbone tonight. She is at the top of her game right now. Our top line of Saltness, (Rebecca) Freiburger and (Sarah) Montrose controlled the play throughout the game with several great scoring chances."
