Girls hockey | Mayo 4, Northern Lakes 0

BLAINE — The Rochester Mayo girls hockey team bounced back from Tuesday's disappointing first-round loss in the Schwan's Cup by turning in a solid all-around performance Wednesday, blanking Northern Lakes 4-0.

Mayo coach Mike McCormack said his club got off to a slow start but rebounded nicely. "It took us a period to get our feet moving," he said. "We adjusted by changing our forecheck."

He credited Brooke Haskins, Ashley Hammes and Paige Anglin with putting "tremendous pressure" on Northern Lakes and forcing a lot of turnovers.

Megan Adair had two goals for Mayo, with Lexi Grethen picking up one goal and Eryn Fjelsted the other.

Mayo goalie Sophie Butterfass didn't face a lot of shots, but she stopped all 10 pucks that came her way.
