OWATONNA — Top-seeded Northfield claimed the Section One, Class A championship in girls hockey on Thursday with a 3-1 win over Owatonna.
Brynn Puppe scored two straight goals for Northfield (19-9) as the Raiders overcame a 1-0 deficit.
Puppe scored a short-handed goal to tie the game 1-1 in the second period and snapped the tie with a goal at the 1:20 mark of the third period.
Northfield didn't secure the win until Nicole Laue scored into an open net with 21 seconds to play.
Meghan Rethemeier scored Owatonna's lone goal in the second period. The Huskies, the No. 3 seed, finished the year 19-9.
