PLYMOUTH — Rochester John Marshall/Lourdes received a first-hand look at what it takes to be one of the best teams in the state.
The Rockets held their own, but dropped a 4-0 non-conference girls hockey game against No. 5-ranked Wayzata on Monday at the Plymouth Ice Center.
"We gave up a couple of goals we would like to have back and that really turned the game for Wayzata," JM/L coach Bob Montrose said. "We knew we would need a very special effort to beat a team like Wayzata and we were there, but just a few unfortunate bounces away."
Wayzata scored all four of its goals in the second period and outshot the Rockets 25-17.
"Our girls played even-up hockey in the first and outplayed Wayzata in the third," Montrose said. "They got to us in the second and that's what goes on the scoresheet, but we were very happy to see our girls play competitive hockey with one of the top teams in the state."
