Lauren Jennings scored five goals and powered John Marshall/Lourdes to a 9-8 win over visiting Visitation in a non-conference girls lacrosse game Monday at JM Stadium.
It was the first win of the season for JM/Lourdes, after an 0-4 start. Mia Bruesewitz made 11 saves in goal for the Rockets.
"Jennings was able to put the ball in the goal at crucial points of the game," said JM/L coach Kerry Novotny. "The game of course could not have been won without the communication and help displayed by the defensive unit."
Novotny added that Brie Lee did a "fantastic job" controlling the draw, and the attack as a whole worked together to find open players and scrap for the ball to keep it in the attack zone.
"A free position goal by Betty Walter with an assist from Jacy Jacobson and a free position shot and beautiful quick stick in front of the goal off a pass from Lauren Jennings helped seal the win," Novotny added.
