ST. PAUL — Rochester Mayo erupted for 12 goals in the first half and won 16-12 at North High School in a girls lacrosse game Friday.
Mayo snapped a seven-game losing streak and improved to 2-10. Selina Leang and Paige Anglin scored three goals each to pace the Spartans.
"Our girls had a great first half and put a lot of goals in the net," Mayo coach Nikki Anglin said. "That early lead allowed us to get many girls into the game in that second half."
Anglin said Gabby Kretchmer played strong in her first game in goal with 16 saves.
Mayo closes its regular season Saturday at Anoka. Mayo is the No. 7 seed in the Section 1 tournament and plays at No. 2 seed Lakeville South on Tuesday.
