AUSTIN — The Rochester Century girls soccer team took a modest two-game winning streak on the road Tuesday and dominated a tough Austin squad for much of the game. But Austin goalie Chloe Summerfield stood tall and made 22 saves, and when the final horn sounded, the teams settled for a scoreless tie.
"If you could win based on possession, we would have taken the game," said Century head coach Karen LaDue. "However, scoring just didn't happen for us. We had chance after chance, we just could not convert. The Austin keeper came up big and we missed some of the best chances we had tonight. It is unfortunate to play so well and have to settle for a tie."
Century goal Amanda LaDue faced just 3 shots.
Century, which was shut out in its first three games of the season, has rebounded nicely and is 3-1-1 in its last five games. The Panthers host Winona on Thursday, while Austin is at Mankato East.
