Rochester Century, still looking for its first win of the year, dominated Red Wing on Thursday in all aspects of the game except the scoring column. When time expired in overtime, neither team had dented the net in a 0-0 tie.
Century head coach Karen Ladue shared her players' sense of frustration. "This is one of those games where you look at the scorebook and you cannot explain the results," she said. "We did everything right but find the back of the net. We played one of our best games of the season and still couldn't come away with a win. We fired shot after shot -- the Red Wing keeper had a great game and we had a bit of bad luck just missing by inches as we hit the top of the goal and the side of the goal and everywhere else except the goal. It's frustrating."
Red Wing's Paige Harlow was busy all night, but she stopped all 17 shots she faced.
Century goalie Amanda LaDue didn't face many shots, but she stopped all three that came her way.
"We are happy with our first shutout of the season," LaDue said. "We are happy with our team play. Yet, you leave the field feeling as if you lost the big one."
