WINONA — Rochester Lourdes got back on track Monday, beating Winona Cotter 4-0 in Hiawatha Valley League girls soccer.
Lourdes scored twice in the first half, twice in the second half. The Eagles had lost their last game, and tie the one previous to that.
"This was a nice win for the team," Lourdes coach Sarah Groven said. "We were able to score some goals and that has been an issue for a few games, so it's an awesome confidence builder all around. (Goalie) Becca Freiburger had another shutout as well. We played better all around and with a busy week it's great to start off with a big win."
Lourdes got single goals from Katie Helt, Jessica Scheckel, Renee Saltness and Carley Hickey. It was Scheckel's first varsity goal. She is a defender.
Lourdes is 5-3-2 and plays at Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa today.
