MANKATO — Mayo scored five, first-half goals and it held up in a 5-2 Big Nine Conference win at Mankato West.
Kayley Josephs scored two goals for the Spartans, who also got one each from Lindsey Greenlund, Sarah Wade and Rachele Biltoff. Wade and Olivia Korngable had on assist each.
"The wind played a big difference,'' said Mayo coach Dave Foreman. "We had it going with us in the first half, and took advantage of it.''
In goal for Mayo was Laura Henderson, who stopped 10 shots. Foreman gave credit to his three defenders, Jordan Craft, Anne Wolfe and Courtney Hruska.
Mayo had 21 shots on goal.

The Spartans upped their record to 7-5-1 and 6-1 in the Big Nine. Mankato West falls to 6-6-1.
Mayo is at Hastings for a 5 p.m. game Saturday.
