Girls Swimming: Mayo again king of the Big Nine

Mayo put on a stellar display Saturday at the Rochester Recreation Center pool to capture the Big Nine Conference girls swimming and diving title for the third straight year.

Mayo put on a stellar display Saturday at the Rochester Recreation Center pool to capture the Big Nine Conference girls swimming and diving title for the second time in three years.

Mayo totaled 501.5 points and Northfield was a distance second place with 244.5 points. John Marshall was fifth in the 12-team field with 196 points and Century was seventh with 148 points.

Mayo won three individual events and one relay. lsabella Lichen won the diving championship by less than three points. Lauren Wood won the 100 butterfly while Kasey Ericson captured the 100 freestyle and she was second in the 200 freestyle.

Ericson was also a member of Mayo's winning 400 freestyle relay team along with Lindsey Turner, Gretchen Dowdy and Ella Thompson. Turner was second in the 500 freestyle and Mayo was also runner-up in the 200 freestyle relay.

Lauren Fee won the 200 individual medley for John Marshall.
