The Rochester Lourdes girls tennis team, ranked No. 3 in the state in Class A, qualified for its 20th consecutive state tournament on Monday.
The Eagles swept Lake City 7-0 in the section 1A semifinals, then held off Cannon Falls in the finals by a score of 4-3.
Lourdes won the top three singles matches against Cannon Falls and also won at No. 2 doubles, with the team of Natalie Allison and Molly Belda defeating McKenna Bauer and Grace Rutter 6-2, 6-2.
Lourdes will play the section 7A champion Oct. 27 at 8 a.m. at Reed-Sweat Tennis Center.
Individual sectionals begin today at 10 a.m. at Kutzky Park. Playing singles for Lourdes will be Candela Fernandez Rodriquez and Molly Belda, and in doubles, the Eagles will be represented by the teams of Clare Palen/Rachel Kamath and Sydney Allison/Ellen Gorman.
