IOWA CITY, Iowa — The Minnesota women's basketball team got down early and was never able to recover as it dropped a Big Ten Conference contest, 75-58, to Iowa Thursday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The loss dropped the Gophers' record to 12-14 overall and 4-8 in league contests, while the Hawkeyes improved to 15-10 and 7-5.
Freshman Rachel Banham was the scoring and rebounding leader for Minnesota, extending her double-digit scoring streak to 22 games with 20 points to go along with six rebounds.
Also scoring in double-figures for Minnesota was junior Katie Loberg, who chipped in 10 points and three rebounds. Kiara Buford added eight points and five rebounds, while Brianna Mastey also pulled down five rebounds.
Minnesota lost the battle on the boards, 43-26, but had eight steals and shot 42 percent from the field. It struggled on three-pointers, connecting on only 2 of 14 attempts, while Iowa had seven treys, five of them from Kamille Wahlin.
