DULUTH — The top-ranked University of Minnesota women's hockey team outshot Minnesota Duluth 14-5 in the third period and scored the final two goals of the night to rally for a 3-3 tie with the Bulldogs in front of 1,303 fans at Amsoil Arena on Saturday.

The Bulldogs, who were swept at home a week ago in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play by No. 2 Wisconsin, won the shootout in the fourth round 2-1 to earn an extra point in the league standings.

Goals by senior defenseman Emma Stauber of Duluth in the first period - when UMD outshot Minnesota 11-6 - senior forward Jenna McParland in the second and freshman forward Michelle Lowenhielm on the power play in the third period gave the Bulldogs (1-3-2 overall, 0-3-1 WCHA) a 3-1 lead over the Gophers (3-0-1, 1-0-1) with just more than 16 minutes to play in regulation.

Minnesota's Meghan Lorence cut the Bulldogs' lead to 3-2 8:27 into the third, and Hannah Brandt scored her second goal of the night as the Gophers tied the game with 5:03 remaining in regulation.
