Greyhounds fly past Royals

AUSTIN — The Austin Greyhounds got off to a fast start and flew past the Rochester Royals 8-1 on Friday in amateur baseball.

The Hounds led 6-1 after two innings. They scored four runs in the second, including getting a a big three-run double by Nate Johnson.

Johnson finished with two hits and scored twice.

Ryan Lakin pitched the first six innings for the Royals, before being relieved by Joe Moen.

The Royals' only run came in the first inning when Tim Oesterlin came around on a Dave Rojo double. Oesterlin finished 3-for-4. Matt Sturchio was 2-for-4.

"The Royals left too many men on base and couldn't execute their opportunities to score," Royals manager Kevin Ness said.

The Greyhounds play the Austin Blue Sox at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Royals host Chaska at 2 p.m. Sunday.
