MINNEAPOLIS — Section One had the top two all-around gymnasts at the 2014 State Meet Class AA individual competition Saturday night at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion.
Northfield junior Bailey DuPay defended her Class AA state title in the all-around with 39.0875 points, and Winona seventh-grader Halle Remlinger was second with 38.625.
DuPay was dominant in winning three events — the bars (9.850), beam (9.725) and floor exercise (9.787) — and she was second on the vault (9.725).
DuPay was also the state all-around champion last year, and she finished third in the state all-around in 2012. She led Northfield to a second-place finish in the team competition on Friday night.
Remlinger, who edged Austin senior Sela Fadness for the Big Nine Conference all-around title a few weeks ago, was third on both the bars (9.75) and beam (9.6), fifth on the vault (9.7), and 13th on the floor.

Rochester had two entrants at state. Century sophomore Andi Jacobs took fifth in the bars (9.575), and Century senior Madeline Jensen was 10th on the beam (9.425). This was Jacobs' second trip to state, after a 15th-place all-around finish as an eighth-grader in 2012. It was the first high school state meet for Jensen.
