HAYDEN BROWN

SeniorLourdes

Stats: Excelled for the Eagles at first base, right field and on the mound. He batted .433 with 6 2B, 1 3B, 20 RBIs and 24 runs scored. The lefty was 4-0 as a pitcher with a 3.11 ERA. Helped Lourdes go 21-0 during the regular season. He was named All-State in Class AA and played in the MBCA All-Star Series. Will play his college ball at D-II Minnesota Duluth. A repeat member of the All-Area first team.

AIDAN MERGES

SeniorCentury

Stats: The left-handed pitcher was the ace of the Century staff as he went 7-4 with a 2.68 ERA with 46 K's while helping the Panthers earn the top seed in Section 1AAAA. Wasn't bad at the plate either, hitting .308 with 4 2B and 14 RBIs. He was named All-State in Class AAAA and played in the MBCA All-Star Series. Was second-team All-Area a year ago.

TRAVIS RITTENHOUSE

SeniorCentury

Stats: Emerged as a standout hitter during his senior season. He improved his average by more than .100 points from his junior year by hitting .389 with 3 HRs, 14 2B, 24 RBIs and 24 runs. Played in the MBCA All-Star Series. Will start his college career at Iowa Central Community College, a D-II JUCO.

DREW LINGEN

SophomoreJohn Marshall

Stats: He was a strong two-way player for the Rockets. At the plate, he batted .373 with 9 2B, 3 HR, 23 RBIs and 19 runs scored. Came up big in section play against city rivals Century, when he had four RBIs and a save in relief, and against Mayo, with a complete-game win. Overall on the mound, he had four wins, three saves, a 2.82 ERA with 42 K's.

BRADY KRALING

SeniorLourdes

Stats: Was the ace of the Lourdes staff that featured a lot of strong pitchers and overall players. The hard-throwing righty was 3-0 with a 1.81 ERA with 32 K's and just 12 hits allowed in 27 innings. Also emerged as a hitter, batting .409 with 4 2B, 3 HR, 18 RBIs and 14 runs. Was named All-State in Class AA and played in MBCA All-Star Series. Will play college ball at D-III St. John's.

CAIDEN BRUNS

SeniorLourdes

Stats: Was strong at both the plate and on the mound while helping the Eagles win an HVL division title and go 21-0 in the regular season. He batted .379 with 8 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 20 RBIs and 17 runs. On the mound, he posted a 4-0 record with a 2.50 ERA and 54 K's in just 28 innings. He will start his college career at Iowa Western Community College, a D-I JUCO.

CASEY STORLIE

SeniorCaledonia

Stats: Excelled on the mound and at the plate on his way to being named All-State in Class AA. The left-hander had a 7-1 record with a 0.44 ERA and 68 K's in 47 2/3 innings. He also batted .410 with 5 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 28 RBIs and 24 runs. Was also first-team All-Area a year ago. Will play college ball at D-II Minnesota State, Mankato.

TATE MEINERS

SeniorCaledonia

Stats: He was a terror with the bat all season as he hit .470 with 7 home runs as he was named All-State in Class AA. Also hit 7 2B, 4 3B with 22 RBIs and 37 runs. Was second-team All-Area a year ago. Will play college ball at D-II Augustana, which will be moving to D-I.

DREW COPLEY

SeniorGMLOK

Stats: Excelled at the plate and on the mound and his way to earning All-State honors in Class AA. He also played in the MBCA All-Star Series. He batted a stellar .554 with 10 2B , 1 3B, 4 HR and 28 RBIs. On the mound, he posted a 6-1 record with just a 0.32 ERA. He struck out 109 in 65 1/3 innings and issued just 14 walks.

MARK BURINGA

SeniorSt. Charles

Stats: A strong season at the plate helped him earn All-State status in Class AA. He was also selected and played in the MBCA All-Star Series. He batted .443 with 7 2B, 14 RBIs, 18 runs and 24 stolen bases. On the mound, he posted a 2-2 record with a 2.96 ERA.

KYLE EBERT

JuniorJohn Marshall

Stats: Got off to a slow start, but rebounded to hit .346 with 5 2B, 1 HR, 10 RBIs and 18 runs. Was also strong on the mound with one win — a three-hit shutout over Mankato West — a save and a 1.17 ERA.

LOGAN MILENE

Stats: The left-handed hitter had a lusty .448 average with 9 2B with 19 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He was also a defensive force as Century's catcher and helped the Panthers win a Big Nine title and earn the top seed in Section 1AAAA.

EASTON FRITCHER

FreshmanHayfield

Stats: Emerged as the staff ace as a freshman while helping the Vikings win a Section 1A title. Was 9-1 on the mound with a 1.50 ERA and 71 K's. Also excelled at the plate hitting .364 with 8 2B, 3 3B, 2 HR, 29 RBIs and 31 runs. His only loss was in the Class A state quarterfinals.

ANDREW SIMMONS

SeniorStewartville

Stats: The right-hander was the staff ace for the Tigers as he posted a 7-3 record with a 2.18 ERA and had 80 K's in 67 1/3 innings. Also batted .274 at the plate with 3 2B, 2 HR, 16 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He will start his college career at Iowa Central Community College, a D-II JUCO.

BLAKE SCHILLING

JuniorLewiston-Altura

Stats: The team spark plug at the plate and on the mound. Led the Cardinals in six offensive categories as he batted .541 with 12 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 27 stolen bases, 15 RBIs and 33 runs. Also had a 4-3 record on the mound with a 4.00 ERA and 58 K's.

ZACH SCHARPEN

SeniorLake City

Stats: A strong two-way player for the Tigers. He batted .463 with 11 2B, 1 3B and 6 RBIs on a team that averaged modest 4.1 runs a game. He was also the staff ace with a 4-1 record and 1.50 ERA and 26 K's.

JOE IRISH

SeniorP-E-M

Stats: Provided power at the plate and on the mound for P-E-M. He batted .467 with 8 2B, 4 HR, 22 RBIs and 16 runs. On the mound, he notched a 4-2 record with one save while posting a 2.65 ERA with 52 K's. Was named All-Section in 1AA.

BEN LIMBURG

SeniorLourdes

Stats: One of many strong bats in the Lourdes batting order and he led the team with 24 RBIs while hitting .463 with, 6 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, and 24 runs scored. Also threw 10 2/3 innings on the mound, in six games, and had a 1-1 record with a 2.10 ERA.

CARTER BRATLAND

JuniorSpring Grove

Stats: Named the team MVP as a dual threat on the mound and at the plate. He batted .325 with 7 2B, 1 HR, 20 RBIs and 15 runs. Was also the Lions' top pitcher with a 7-3 record and 1.36 ERA. Struck out 97 in just 51 2/3 innings pitched.

RILEY GORA

SeniorSchaeffer Academy

Stats: Had a very strong season at the plate and on the mound. Batted an even .500 with 25 RBIs and 15 runs scored. On the mound, he led all area pitches with 122 K's while posting a 6-4 record and a 0.91 ERA. Had an 8.71 strikeout-to-walk ratio as he issued just 14 free passes.

ABOUT THE ALL-AREA TEAM

The 2019 Post Bulletin All-Area Teams were picked by the PB staff, after requesting nominations from area coaches. Players must have been nominated by a coach in order to make the team. This is the third year the PB has picked an All-Area Baseball Team.
