ALBERT LEA — The Rochester A's suffered their first loss in First District American Legion baseball on Sunday, falling to Albert Lea 4-3.

Albert Lea scored twice in the bottom of the first — after the A's ran themselves out of a possible run or runs — then tacked on two more in the bottom of the fifth to earn the victory.

"We let Albert Lea off the hook in the first inning," A's coach Todd Stellmaker said. "Their starter was having a tough time throwing strikes and we gave them two outs on one pitch on a base running mistake."

The A's didn't go down easily. They scored one run in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings to take a 3-2 lead, before Albert Lea rallied for the winning runs.

"We were able to pluck away and actually get a lead but Albert Lea put together a good fifth inning and was able to get a timely hit for two more runs," Stellmaker said.

Dalton Schuder continued his strong play this summer, going 2-for-2 and reaching base four times.

The A's are now 3-1 in First District play (5-6 overall) and play Owatonna in a First District matchup Tuesday night in Owatonna.
