The Rochester Patriots kept their strong summer going on Monday, sweeping the rival Rochester Redhawks in an American Legion baseball doublehader. The Patriots won the opener 7-4 and earned a dramatic 6-5 win in the nightcap.

Tor Hendrickson led the Patriots (11-4) in the opener, hitting a two-run double in the first inning. He went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Drew Lingen earned the win, allowing two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings.

"Drew was able to get out of a couple jams with the aid of a couple big strikeouts when he needed them," Patriots coach Jade Boettcher said, "and a pair of double plays."

Michael Bigalk went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Redhawks.

The Patriots rallied in the bottom of the seventh to win Game 2 on a walk-off base hit by Cole Peterson, that scored Brandt Dickison.

The Redhawks' Will Weick had hit a two-out RBI double in the top of the seventh to tie the score 5-5, a half-inning after Hendrickson's ground-rule double to left-center field had given the Patriots a 5-4 advantage.

The A's (4-1 district, 6-6 overall) were led by Davis, who pitched six innings, allowed two earned runs on four hits and struck out three hitters. Aidan Merges led the A's at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and three RBIs.

The A's play Winona at 6 p.m. Thursday, before playing in the Gopher Classic this weekend.
