For the second time in as many tries, the Albert Lea boys basketball team looked like it might hand Austin a huge upset in boys basketball.

But one thing was different on Saturday night: The threat didn't last nearly as long as it did on Dec. 11, when the Packers prevailed in double overtime.

Austin put together a terrific second half Saturday and beat the Tigers 80-53 in the Big Nine Conference game.

That after Austin had led just 28-27 at halftime, and only after scoring the last nine points of the first half.

Austin moved to 13-0 in the Big Nine and 20-0 overall. Albert Lea is 5-8, 10-9.

"(Our) guard play was strong with (Bret) Lukes, (Ajuda) Nywesh, and (Zach) Wessels able to get to the basket," Austin coach Kris Fadness said. "Albert Lea was helped early by some hot shooting from (Dylan) See-Rockers and (Tyler) Vandenheuvel."

Wessels finished with 19 points, Lukes with 15 and Nywesh with 14. Austin also got 19 points from Joe Aase.

See-Rockers led Albert Lea with 12 points. Vandenheuvel had nine.
