KASSON — Kasson-Mantorville rolled up 566 yards of offense and had three players rush more than 100 yards in a 49-14 win over rival Byron in Southeast District, Red Sub-District football on Friday.
K-M quarterback Matt Winkle tossed a touchdown pass and ran for two TDs in the first two quarters as the KoMets (2-1) got off to a 28-0 lead. Winkle finished with 135 yards rushing and two TDs. He needed to throw just three passes, and completed two, for 15 yards, including a 4-yard TD to Easton Knoll.
Dalton Andrist led the KoMets with 160 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown. Robby Horsman rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns on just five carries while Peyton Wilke had a 72-yard scoring run.
Byron (1-2) also had a strong offensive game with 337 yards. Caleb Christenson was 12-for-29 passing for 244 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Christenson threw a 15-yard scoring pass to Jakob Braaten and a 70-yarder to Keegan Kuhn. Kuhn had three catches for 110 yards. Ben Stienessen rushed for 67 yards on 15 carries and caught four passes for 53 yards. Conner Strain added three catches for 53 yards.
