What happened: Blooming Prairie defeated Springfield in the Class A state quarterfinals in Janesville in a battle of teams that came into the game unbeaten.

What it means: Blooming Prairie (11-0), ranked No. 2 in the state, advances to the state semifinals while No. 3 Springfield finishes the season 10-1.

Game notes: Blooming Prairie quarterback Kaden Thomas completed 22 of 28 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns. He threw two TDs to Alex Baldwin in the closing 1:06 of the first half as the Blossoms turned a 21-7 lead into a commanding 35-7 lead at the break. The second TD to Baldwin, from 15 yards out, came with just one second left in the half.

Up next: Blooming Prairie will play in the Class A state semifinals at 11:30 a.m. next Saturday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
