What happened: JM held Faribault scoreless in the first half, then completely took over at both ends in the second half. The Rockets got a great game from their Homecoming king, Braden Black. The senior had three touchdowns and also picked off a pass.

Records: JM is 3-4, Faribault 1-6.

What it means: JM has now won three of its past four games and next faces its toughest opponent yet, hosting Owatonna on Wednesday.

Notes: JM got an excellent boost in the second half from reserve running back Forrest Wolf. The 6-1, 195-pound senior transfer finished with 50 yards rushing on eight carries. . .JM's run defense was strong once again, allowing Faribault just 66ground yards. 

Up Next: John Marshall hosts Owatonna at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

KEY PLAYERS

• Braden Black, JM: The running back/linebacker had 105 yards rushing, three touchdowns and picked off a pass.

• Deontae Veney: The big defensive lineman was tough against the run, knocked down a pass and had an interception.
