UNDEFEATED BLOSSOMS TOP BETHLEHEM ACADEMY

FARIBAULT -- Kaden Thomas threw for 165 yards and four touchdowns on Friday as Blooming Prairie crushed Faribault Bethlehem Academy 48-6 in Mid-Southeast District White Division action.

Gabe Hagen had six catches for 84 yards, including a 31-yard TD, and Alex Baldwin had TD receptions that covered 21 yards and 19 yards. 

Matthew Pryor rushed 20 times for 129 yards, and Bradley Simon had nine carries for 125 yards, with TD runs of 28 and 38 yards.

BP, ranked No. 2 in Class A, piled up 450 yards of offense while holding FBA to 188 yards. Dylan Nirk had 10 tackles for the Blossoms.

BP closes out the regular season on Wednesday at home against Medford.

PICK-6 HELPS R-P TOP FILLMORE CENTRAL 

HARMONY -- Late in the first quarter on Friday, Fillmore Central's Zach Haugerud hit Carson Kiehne for a 41-yard touchdown and a 7-6 lead over visiting Rushford-Peterson, and things looked good for the home team.

 R-P scored the game's next four touchdowns, however, and the Trojans claimed a 32-14 win in Mid-Southeast District Blue Division action.

Triton Meldahl had a huge night for R-P, piling up 236 yards on 35 carries with two touchdowns. 

But the biggest play of the game was on defense. In the second quarter, with R-P up 12-7,  Ben Wieser picked off a pass and returned it 71 yards for a touchdown to break the game open.

Fillmore Central's Haugerud completed eight of 16 pass attempts for 234 yards and two TDs.

R-P outgained FC 335-304.  

Rushford-Peterson (5-2) closes out the regular season on Wednesday at Hayfield, while Fillmore Central (2-5) is at Cotter.

PICK-6 HELPS R-P TOP FILLMORE CENTRAL 

RANDOLPH -- Goodhue played a strong defensive game in the cold and wind and scored in the fourth quarter to slip past Randolph 12-6.

The Wildcats intercepted three passes -- one each by Sam Peterson, Connor O'Reilly and Connor Ryan -- and held the host Rockets to 226 yards.

The game was tied 6-6 when Baxter O'Reilly scored the winning touchdown for Goodhue with a 1-yard run with 4:34 to play.

Maddox O'Reilly rushed for 128 yards on 35 carries for Goodhue, including a 4-yard TD run in the second quarter that put the Wildcats up 6-0.

Sam Opsahl was 3-for-10 passing for 30 yards. Goodhue had 170 yards rushing to finish with 200 yards.

Nick Drinken threw a 58-yard TD pass to Isaac Stoesz in the second quarter for Randolph's lone score. Drinken was 10-for-20 passing for 116 yards while Stoesz caught four passes for 85 yards.

Both teams are now 5-2. Goodhue improves to 3-1 in White Division play in the Mid-Southeast District while Randolph falls to 2-2 in division play.

KNIGHTS BEAT MEDFORD IN DEFENSIVE BATTLE

KENYON -- Kenyon-Wanamingo and Medford engaged in a defensive battle on Friday night in their Mid-Southeast District football game. 

But it came down to a turnover turning things in K-W’s favor as the Knights came away with a 14-0 win.

K-W punt coverage man Jed Johnson put a big hit on the Medford punt returner in the third quarter. That jarred the ball loose with it recovered by teammate Bray Olson at the Medford 4. Two plays later Knights quarterback Luke Berg ran the ball in from the 2.

K-W got one more TD in the fourth quarter, getting it down after driving 50 yards.

The Knights finished with 105 yards rushing, while Medford had 164. Neither team had success throwing the ball with heavy winds affecting things.

Both teams are now 3-4 overall.

CARDINALS STAY PERFECT

LEWISTON -- Lewiston-Altura kept up its winning ways on Friday, blasting past Hayfield 33-18 in Mid-Southeast District football.

The win upped L-A to 7-0 overall. The Cardinals are ranked fifth in Class AA.

L-A had a big night on the ground, rushing for 311 yards on 49 carries. Cole Mundt led the way with 180 yards rushing on 20 carries, with four touchdowns. L-A punted punted just once the entire game.

Hayfield (3-4 overall) got 102 yards passing from Brady Nelson. Carter Kyllo had 90 yards rushing on 14 carries.
