ELGIN – It was only a matter of time for Plainview-Elgin-Millville.

The Bulldogs had played very well thorugh the first three weeks of the high school football season, with no rewards to show for it.

But P-E-M put together a complete team effort on Friday in a 28-0 Southeast District football victory against Rochster Lourdes.

The Bulldogs dominated the scoreboard and the statistics, as quarterback Kaden Lamb accounted for 264 yards of total offense and had a hand in three of his team’s touchdowns.

Lamb completed 13 of 23 passes, with no interceptions, for 184 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran 16 times for 80 yards and a score. Both of his touchdown passes went to Blake Herber – who finished with seven catches for 71 yards – including one 4:41 into the first quarter that gave P-E-M the lead for good.

"We had some nice drives in the first half when we were only down 6-0, but we'd get down to the red zone and turn it over," Lourdes coach Mike Kesler said. "Those (turnovers) kind of took the wind out of us and we just didn't respond."

The score remained 6-0 at halftime, and P-E-M (1-3 overall) pulled away with two third-quarter touchdowns, one on a 31-yard run by Leo Silha 5:19 into the third and another just more than three minutes later on a 6-yard pass from Lamb to Herber.

Lamb added a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.

"Give P-E-M all the credit," Kesler said. "It was a close game at half and they took control in the second half. They hurt us in the first half through the air and came out in the second half and made a commitment to the run."

Lourdes (1-3) turned the ball over three times, while P-E-M didn’t commit a turnover. The Eagles finished with 194 total yards, all on the ground. They were led by running back Seth Haight, who carried 12 times for 72 yards.

Silha finished with 96 yards on 10 carries to lead P-E-M, and Gage Hansen had two receptions for 80 yards.

Lourdes returns home next week to host Caledonia, the No. 1-ranked team in Class AA. P-E-M hosts Paynesville Area in a non-district game on Friday.
